Pixel pitch and viewing distance
Pixel pitch is the distance in millimeters between two neighboring pixels, and it decides how close viewers can stand before they see individual points of light. The practical rule of thumb: the minimal viewing distance in meters equals the pixel pitch in millimeters. So a 1.5 millimeter wall looks sharp from about 1.5 meters, and a 2.5 millimeter wall from about 2.5 meters.

What pixel pitch is
Pixel pitch is measured in millimeters, for example 0.9, 1.5 or 2.5. A smaller number means the pixels are closer together, which raises resolution and lets viewers stand nearer. A larger number means a coarser image that is fine from a distance and usually costs less per square meter.

Stand 2 meters away and a 2.0 millimeter wall already looks sharp; stand 4 meters away and 4.0 millimeters is enough. Working backwards from how close people will actually stand gives you the largest pitch that still looks clean, which keeps the cost down.
